El gobierno de Puerto Rico está considerando retirar su apoyo a la ley que prohíbe el matrimonio a parejas del mismo sexo. Nos alienta que el gobierno esté reconsiderando su defensa de su prohibición discriminatoria. El gobierno nunca debe estar involucrado en el negocio de la discriminación.

“Every day that loving, committed couples in Puerto Rico are denied the dignity and respect of marriage represents one more day in which their families are at risk and the Commonwealth sends a discriminatory message to LGBT people. We won’t stop fighting on their behalf.”

Last night, the United States District Court of Puerto Rico issued a ruling dismissing Lambda Legal’s lawsuit seeking to end the discriminatory ban on marriage for same-sex couples in Puerto Rico. The case, Conde-Vidal v. Garcia-Padilla, was filed on behalf of five gay and lesbian couples and Puerto Rico Para Tod@s, an organization that represents lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual and transgender people and their families.
