In lawsuit filed by Lambda Legal and TLDEF, U.S. District Court finds that the North Carolina state health plan’s categorical exclusion of medically necessary gender-affirming health care is discriminatory and unlawful.
The Travis County District Court granted a temporary restraining order on Friday to block the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) from investigating PFLAG families who are supporting their transgender children with medically necessary health care, including the three plaintiff families in the case.
The Texas Supreme Court issued a ruling this morning that upholds part of an appeals court order preventing the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) from investigating parents who work with medical professionals to provide their adolescent transgender children with medically necessary healthcare.
“This moment is, in large part, the culmination of Dana and Lambda Legal’s relentless activism, demanding the federal government recognize all people— regardless of the gender binary—as valid and worthy of recognition and respect.”
“These bills will make life harder for transgender kids across Arizona who should have the opportunity to grow up feeling loved and respected for who they are.”
