Late yesterday, Lambda Legal, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), Southern Legal Counsel (SLC), and private counsel Baker McKenzie filed a federal lawsuit challenging the Florida enacted House Bill 1557, commonly referred to as the “Don’t Say Gay” law.
“We applaud our champions in the House, and today call on the U.S. Senate to act with similar speed and bipartisanship to reassure American families that marriage discrimination is and remains unlawful.”
Today the Travis County District Court entered a second injunction against the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) and Commissioner Masters, barring them from implementing the agency’s rule expanding the definition of child abuse to presumptively treat the provision of gender affirming care as child abuse against two more families, Mirabel Voe and her son Antonio, and Wanda Roe and her son Tommy.
