Anti-LGBT Advocate David Porter Moves Forward

(Washington, DC, July 19, 2018) – Today, Sharon McGowan, Legal Director and Chief Strategy Officer of Lambda Legal, issued the following statement in response to the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee’s vote to approve David Porter, Donald Trump’s nominee to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit:

“David Porter has been, in Senator McConnell’s words, an ‘aggressive advocate’ working to demean and diminish the LGBT community for decades. His extreme world view has no place on our courts and when his nomination comes to the floor, Senate Republicans must decide if they want to protect the American people, or continue to be a rubber stamp for this Administration’s dangerous policy agenda.”
