Lambda Legal Georgia marriage case plaintiffs Christopher Inniss and Shelton Stroman with their son Jonathan.

Today, the US District Court for the Northern District of Georgia officially issued its decision in Inniss et al v. Aderhold et al, the Georgia marriage case.

The case was filed on behalf of Christopher Inniss and Shelton Stroman of Snellville, Rayshawn Chandler and Avery Chandler of Jonesboro, Michael Bishop and Shane Thomas of Atlanta, Beth and Krista Wurz of Brunswick and one widow, Jennifer Sisson of Decatur.

Tara Borelli, Senior Attorney in Lambda Legal’s Southern Regional Office based in Atlanta, said:

Today’s order from the Court officially closes the book on Georgia’s discriminatory marriage ban and makes it crystal clear to officials across the state that marriage equality is the law of the land.

Georgia’s same-sex couples should not be treated any differently than straight couples. If you feel you have experienced discrimination, please call Lambda Legal's Help Desk at 866-542-8336 or visit lambdalegal.org/help.
