Today, Valerie Huber, a leader in the movement against science-based and honest sex education in schools was appointed as Chief of Staff to the Assistant Secretary for Health for the US Department of Health and Human Services.

Today Oregon Senator Jeff Merkley and Rhode Island Representative David Cicilline were joined by Democratic Leaders in the Senate and House as well as members of the bipartisan LGBTQ Equality Caucus to reintroduce the Equality Act, a bill to prohibit discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity in employment, housing, credit, education, and jury service.

Erasing LGBTQ People from the 2020 Census Isn't Just Wrong, It's Life-Threatening

The 2020 census won’t include questions about sexual orientation and gender identity. The harm to LGBTQ people from being erased is not just about numbers (although those are certainly important). Census information helps determine the allocation of federally funded social services that are critically important to so many members of the LGBTQ community.

In the 21 years since then, I have been incarcerated at Potosi Correctional Center (PCC), a maximum-security prison in Mineral Point, Missouri for male inmates.

Today, in a 5-3 decision in Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt, the U.S. Supreme Court struck down two provisions of a Texas anti-abortion law that, if allowed to go into effect, would have forced 75 percent of Texas abortion clinics to close. Lambda Legal applauded today’s decision.

Any day now the U.S. Supreme Court will issue a decision in Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt, which may be the most important abortion case in decades. The case involves a challenge to two provisions of Texas's House Bill 2, an anti-abortion law enacted in July 2013 that, if allowed to go into effect, would force the vast majority of Texas abortion clinics to close.
