Lambda Legal scored many amazing victories this year in the fight for the rights of LGBT people and people living with HIV. These are advances we would barely have dreamed of just a decade ago – but we’re not done yet.

The New York City Council has announced that it has passed a bill eliminating the surgery requirement for transgender people seeking to change the sex designation on their birth certificates.

This morning, members of Congress met to talk about immigration. Unfortunately, they did not meet to discuss a much needed, humane immigration reform bill. Instead, they attacked President Obama’s recent lawful actions on immigration for going too far. But the problem with the President’s plan is not that it went too far — it’s that it didn’t go far enough, especially with respect to including LGBT communities.
