Texas Court Overturns 'Homosexual Conduct' Law, Clears Men Arrested in Bedroom

(NEW YORK, June 8, 2000) —The Texas Court of Appeals Thursday overturned the state’s anti-gay “Homosexual Conduct” Law, reversing convictions of two Houston men arrested for allegedly having sex in the bedroom of one man’s home, said Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund, which challenged the law and represented the pair.


In a teleconference at 10 a.m. CDT, Thursday, June 8, Lambda Staff Attorney Suzanne B. Goldberg, with Lambda Cooperating Attorney Mitchell Katine of the Houston law firm Williams, Birnberg & Anderson, will discuss the ruling.

Ruling on Washington Visitation Law Suggests Balanced Approach to Parental Rights

(NEW YORK, June 5, 2000) — Making its strongest statements yet on changing family structures, the United States Supreme Court on Monday struck down an expansive Washington visitation statute and rejected an appeal by a couple seeking more time with their grandchildren. Florida Appeals Court Detects Anti-Gay Prejudice in Custody Decision

Lambda Legal Appeals Medicaid Decision To Deny a Liver Transplant to a Pennsylvania Man Because He Has HIV

(Pittsburgh, Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003) - Saying that Pennsylvania’s Medicaid program may cost an Altoona man his life by refusing to cover a liver transplant because he has HIV, Lambda Legal will argue its appeal in the case at a hearing tomorrow (Wednesday, Nov. 19), asking the state program to reverse its denial in light of a range of scientific data and the man’s personal health history and experience.

United Airlines Is Official Carrier For Lambda Legal Defense

(NEW YORK, May 1, 2000) — Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund and United Airlines have agreed to a three-year commitment designating the carrier as Lambda’s official airline and corporate sponsor.
