Lambda Legal today announces that Kristine Kippins has joined the organization as the new Deputy Legal Director for Policy, based in its Washington, D.C. office.

"Kristine will add even greater firepower to our federal and state policy efforts. She has been a formidable partner with us on many federal policy matters, including our work to defend the federal judiciary from the onslaught of terrible Trump judges. Most recently, Kristine has been leading the charge to end qualified immunity," said Sharon McGowan, Lambda Legal Chief Strategy Officer and Legal Director. "After years of working alongside this impressive and dedicated attorney, we are thrilled to have someone as talented and respected within the civil rights community as Kristine join our Washington office."

Before joining Lambda Legal, Kristine was Director of Policy for the Constitutional Accountability Center, where she helped make more real the promises of the Constitution. Before joining CAC, Kristine served as a federal policy counsel at the Center for Reproductive Rights. She was responsible for advancing and protecting abortion health policy at the national level. Prior to working at the Center, Kristine was Director of External Affairs for the American Constitution Society for Law and Policy (ACS). She organized ACS's lawyer chapters, promoted ACS's network on Capitol Hill, and led the organization's judicial nominations advocacy.

Before moving to D.C., Kristine spent several years working on numerous local, state, and presidential campaigns around the country. After graduating from law school, Kristine joined Orlando's premier real estate law firm, Lowndes, Drosdick, Doster, Kantor & Reed, P.A. as an associate. Kristine received her J.D. from William & Mary Law School and B.S. from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business.

"I am a fierce supporter of the LGBTQ+ community and have dedicated my life to the collective liberation of marginalized people in this country. Joining the nation’s oldest and largest legal organization advancing the civil rights of LGBTQ people and everyone living with HIV and being part of a large team of more than thirty lawyers and paraprofessionals to help guide its public policy work is a dream come true, and I am excited for my first day on the job," Kippins said. "With a nearly fifty-year history, Lambda Legal is well positioned to take on lawmakers denying LGBTQ+ people and those living with HIV—particularly those living at the intersections of being people of color, immigrants, young people, incarcerated, and disabled—their right to equality under law. This country's policies must reflect the full breadth and depth of our movement, and I am thrilled to contribute to Lambda Legal's fight to secure a safe and just world for all LGBTQ people and everyone living with HIV."
