(CHICAGO, October 22, 1997) Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund announced Tuesday that it won important policy changes in the Chicago public school system with the settlement of a lawsuit that challenged illegal screening of teacher applicants for HIV and AIDS.

(New York, November 2, 2006) — In reaction to the Rutgers-Eagleton poll released today which showed that the majority of all adults agree that same-sex couples should have all the rights different-sex married couples enjoy but also showed a majority supporting civil unions over marriage, Lambda Legal issued the following statement:

Kevin Cathcart, Executive Director of Lambda Legal, issued the following statement in response to the 2006 election results and what they mean for the LGBT community:

There is much to celebrate and analyze about the results of the elections, but one thing is for sure — antigay campaigns don’t work. The downfall of homophobic politicians like Rick Santorum and the defeat of the antigay constitutional amendment in Arizona signal that the tide is turning. The politics of harm and spite no longer carry the day for those who oppose LGBT equality.

(Denver, November 13, 2006) — The U. S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit heard oral arguments today in the appeal of Lambda Legal’s lawsuit that struck down Oklahoma’s antigay Adoption Invalidation Law.

(Oxford, OH, November 20, 2006) — In response to papers filed by Lambda Legal, the Butler County Court of Common Pleas today dismissed a lawsuit brought by a legislator seeking to take away the domestic partner benefits of employees of Miami University.

(CHICAGO, September 16, 1997) -- Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund and the City of Chicago in county court on Tuesday defeated an attempt by religious extremists to block benefits for partners of lesbian and gay city workers.

"The City is simply trying to give its valued lesbian and gay employees a compensation package that is at least close to what it offers everyone else," said Patricia M. Logue, managing attorney for Lambda's Midwest Regional Office in Chicago.

(San Diego, November 21, 2006) — In papers submitted today, Lambda Legal urged the California Court of Appeal (Fourth District) to uphold a jury decision that found that former Poway High School students were subjected to relentless harassment because they are gay and lesbian.
