(New York, Tuesday, September 28, 2004) — Lambda Legal, the nation’s oldest and largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender legal rights advocacy organization, launches its first national youth education campaign today in an effort to make the nation’s schools safer for LGBT and questioning (LGBTQ) youth.

(Cincinnati, October 12, 2004) - An Ohio appeals court unanimously ruled that lesbian and gay couples must be allowed to protect their relationships with children they are raising together, in a decision that affirms state law and overturns a lower-court ruling that barred two women from creating a shared custody agreement, Lambda Legal said today.

(Washington, DC — October 20, 2004) — Saying that the Bush Administration is focused on protecting the Boy Scouts’ access to public schools while ignoring the rights of gay student groups whose equal rights are often violated, Lambda Legal urged the U.S. Department of Education to add inclusive language to policy regulations that were made public this week and will go into effect within the next couple of months.

On Wednesday, April 26 at 10:00 a.m. the U.S. Supreme Court will hear argument in Boy Scouts of America v. James Dale.

Lambda Senior Staff Attorney Evan Wolfson will deliver the oral argument on behalf of Dale, the Eagle Scout ousted for being gay after 12 years of exemplary participation. Both Dale and his attorney Evan Wolfson will comment outside the Supreme Court following the hearing.

(SALT LAKE CITY, April 19, 2000) -- Some Salt Lake City students are asking a federal judge to order the assistant superintendent overseeing their high school to open the school door to their club to discuss classroom subjects such as American History, Government and Sociology from the perspective of gay people.

On Thursday, April 20, attorneys for the students will argue the motion before United States District Judge Tena Campbell. The students, their mothers and attorneys will speak with reporters following the hearing.

(NEW YORK, Tuesday, April 11, 2000) —The same Salt Lake City school district that gained notoriety by banning dozens of student clubs in order to block the formation of a gay-straight alliance (GSA) is under fire once again. In a lawsuit filed Monday, students charge the assistant superintendent with again violating the law and the district’s own policies in order to keep clubs with a gay perspective off school grounds.

(NEW YORK, March 29, 2000) — Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund filed its legal brief with the United States Supreme Court Wednesday, urging the justices to uphold the New Jersey Supreme Court’s unanimous ruling against the Boy Scouts of America’s all-out ban on gay members.
