Judge Agrees Lambda Can Argue that Housing Law Harms Same-Sex Couples

(NEW YORK, January 24, 2002) — Justice Richard Rivera of the Supreme Court of the State of New York in Kings County has granted the request by Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund to participate as a friend-of-the-court in a case challenging the new housing regulation that makes it easier for landlords to harass and evict many lesbian and gay couples if they do not divide expenses equally.

Pennsylvania's Highest Court Rules Lesbian Mom Can Seek Visitation

(NEW YORK, Wednesday, January 2, 2002) —The Pennsylvania state Supreme Court has affirmed a ruling that a lesbian mother who raised a child with her former partner may seek visitation despite the biological mother’s objection, Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund, which argued the case, said Wednesday.

Government Keeps Door Open to Support for Lesbian and Gay Survivors of 9/11 Victims

Press Conference to Announce Establishment of 'September 11 Gay & Lesbian Family Fund'

(NEW YORK, December 11, 2001) — On Thursday, December 13, the Empire State Pride Agenda and the Stonewall Community Foundation will announce the establishment of the "September 11 Gay & Lesbian Family Fund" to assist the surviving partners of gay and lesbian individuals killed in the September 11 terrorist attacks. With $140,000 in donations, the fund will be administered by the New York Gay and Lesbian Anti-Violence Project, and will be divided equally among the estimated three-dozen surviving partners.
