(Trenton, February 13, 2012) -- Today after the New Jersey Senate voted to pass the marriage equality bill, Lambda Legal urged the Assembly to follow their lead and vote in favor of marriage equality in New Jersey.  

(Olympia, WA, February 8, 2012) – Today, the Washington state legislature voted to pass the marriage equality bill endorsed by Governor Christine Gregoire, setting the stage for Washington to join the growing list of states where same-sex couples have won the freedom to marry.

Lambda Legal National Marriage Project Director Camilla Taylor issued the following statement after today’s historic vote:

(San Francisco, February 7, 2012) – The U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals today upheld the historic August 2010 ruling by now-retired U.S. District Court Chief Judge Vaughn Walker finding Proposition 8 unconstitutional. Lambda Legal’s Legal Director Jon Davidson issued the following statement:

(Atlanta, February 1, 2012) — Today, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit reversed a lower court ruling and remanded the case of Lambda Legal client, Richard Roe, back to district court. Roe applied to be a police officer with the Atlanta Police Department (APD), but was denied employment because of his HIV status.

Today Lambda Legal urged the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit to overturn a lower court ruling against the claim of a man who applied to be a police officer with the Atlanta Police Department (APD), but was denied employment because of his HIV status.

Today in the United States Supreme Court, Lambda Legal filed a friend-of-the-court brief on behalf of 16 national HIV advocacy organizations in support of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, commonly referred to as the ACA.

(Los Angeles, CA, January 6, 2012) -- Lambda Legal announced today that it has hired Shelbi Day as staff attorney in its Western Regional Office in Los Angeles.

Day comes to Lambda Legal from Florida where most recently she was a staff attorney in the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Florida's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Advocacy Project. Before joining the ACLU of Florida, Day was staff attorney in the Southern Regional Office of the National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR).
