(Denver, May 23, 2006) — In court papers made public today, Lambda Legal has entered a lawsuit filed by The Center’s Legal Initiative Project (CLIP) in the District Court of Denver County, Colorado, against Qwest Communications on behalf of a former employee who had to leave his job because he experienced severe harassment by his coworkers because he is gay.

(New York, May 31, 2006) — The New York Court of Appeals (the state’s highest court) heard oral argument today in Lambda Legal’s lawsuit seeking marriage for same-sex couples.

(Chicago, June 7, 2006) — Today students belonging to the Noble Street Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) and Noble Street Charter School filed a settlement agreement in federal court, ending the students’ lawsuit brought by Lambda Legal and establishing equal treatment of their school club.

(LOS ANGELES -- Monday, March 23, 1998) -- Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund deplored Monday's California state Supreme Court ruling, which held that the state's law does not reach anti-gay discrimination by organizations like the Boy Scouts of America.

Lambda, co-counsel in the case, Curran v. Mount Diablo Council of the Boy Scouts of America, emphasized that the court made a narrow ruling that applies only to California and does not stop efforts against the BSA's anti-gay discrimination elsewhere in the country.

(Washington, D.C., June 8, 2006) — Today, Lambda Legal delivered a petition signed by 5,000 people urging Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, to repeal the federal government’s discriminatory hiring policies and allow a qualified man living with HIV to work as a Foreign Service Officer.

(SALT LAKE CITY, March 19, 1998) -- In a lawsuit filed Thursday by four civil rights organizations, a Utah student club called the East High Gay/Straight Alliance challenged discrimination against it by the Salt Lake City Board of Education.

Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund (lead counsel in the case), the ACLU of Utah, the ACLU of Northern California, and the National Center for Lesbian Rights filed the suit on the club's behalf in the United States District Court for the District of Utah.

(Washington D.C., June 27, 2006) — Today, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia issued a decision in Lambda Legal’s lawsuit on behalf of Lorenzo Taylor, a man who was denied employment as a Foreign Service Officer by the U.S. State Department because he has HIV, stating that Taylor presented “more than enough” evidence for the matter to go to trial.

(NEW YORK, Tuesday, March 17, 1998) -- Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund, on behalf of a host of major medical and public health associations, urges the United States Supreme Court to rule that the Americans with Disabilities Act protects people with HIV.

The Supreme Court will hear argument about its first AIDS-related discrimination case, Randon Bragdon, DMD v. Sidney Abbott, et al, on Monday, March 30. Lambda attorneys, Catherine Hanssens and Heather Sawyer, will be available for questions after the hearing.
