Trump era rule had been blocked by three separate federal courts, with one judge finding the rule “saturated with error” in the lawsuit filed by Lambda Legal, Americans United for Separation for Church and State, Center for Reproductive Rights, and County of Santa Clara.

“With his signature today, President Biden has erased the discriminatory federal Defense of Marriage Act from the books and protected LGBTQ+ families from the possible depredations of a rogue Supreme Court.”

The American Bar Association (ABA) Commission on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity recognized Lambda Legal Chief Legal Officer (CLO) Jennifer C. Pizer with its Stonewall Award for considerably advancing the legal professions of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals and successfully championing LGBT legal causes. Pizer was one of three lawyers recognized and will be honored alongside Judge Pamela K. Chen and transgender activist Ellie Krug, at the 11th annual Stonewall Awards ceremony on Feb. 4, 2023, at the ABA Midyear Meeting in New Orleans.
