Today, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington ordered the Department of Defense to turn over documents that it has withheld regarding the Trump-Pence administration’s ban on open military service by transgender people, including its purported justifications for the policy.

“It is past time that we take steps to address the daily threat of violence faced by people who trade sex.”

Yesterday, Myles Brady Davis and Precious Brady-Davis announced the arrival of their child, who was born earlier this month. Myles, who carried and gave birth to their baby and identifies as transmasculine, and Precious, his wife who is a transgender woman, have requested that the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) issue an accurate birth certificate that does not misgender them and either describes them both as “co-parents,” or alternatively lists Myles in the field reserved for “Father/Co-Parent” and Precious as “Mother/Co-Parent.”

WASHINGTON — Today, a coalition of organizations, including the Human Rights Campaign, National Center for Transgender Equality, GLBTQ Legal Advocates and Defenders (GLAD), Modern Military Association of America, National Center for Lesbian Rights, Lambda Legal, American Civil Liberties Union, and Palm Center, expressed disappointment that the final FY20 National Defense Authorization bill does not include the Speier/Brown amendment, which was previously approved by the House of Representatives in a strong bipartisan vote of 242 to 187.

(ATLANTA - December 5, 2019) Today, Lambda Legal asked the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit to affirm a lower court ruling holding that a suburban Jacksonville, Florida, school district must treat transgender student Drew Adams equally by allowing him to use the restroom that matches his gender identity.

"I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of my longtime friend, mentor, and Lambda Legal board colleague, Daniel Cochran.

Today, Lambda Legal joined LGBT advocacy organizations in a friend-of-the-court brief filed in the U.S. Supreme Court in support of June Medical Services, which is challenging Louisiana’s Act 620, an unnecessary and burdensome requirement that physicians who perform abortions have admitting privileges at a local hospital, which only serves to make it harder for patients to access abortion services.
