This morning the U.S Department of Labor announced a proposed new rule for federal contractors through its Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP). The proposed new rule would greatly expand the ability of employers receiving federal contracts to avoid current employment nondiscrimination requirements for religious reasons.

(New York, NY, July 26, 2019) — Military leaders, medical associations, public health groups, and HIV advocates joined three friend-of-the court briefs filed today in support of a federal lawsuit challenging the Pentagon’s discriminatory policies, which prevent service members living with HIV from deploying to most locations outside the United States.

The State of North Carolina cannot use H.B. 142, the law that replaced H.B. 2, to prevent transgender individuals from using public restrooms and other facilities in state government buildings that match their gender under an agreement approved today by a federal court.
