SAN FRANCISCO – Americans United for Separation of Church and State, the Center for Reproductive Rights, Lambda Legal, and the County of Santa Clara today argued before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California that the Trump administration’s Denial of Care Rule should be ruled unlawful and blocked from going into effect.

Lambda Legal and 20 other LGBT organizations joined a letter that was recently sent to the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary urging the committee to oppose the nomination of Steven Menashi to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Lambda Legal has urged the Oregon Court of Appeals once again to affirm its 2017 opinion upholding a 2015 ruling by the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries (BOLI) that the owners of a Portland-area bakery violated the state’s nondiscrimination statutes when they refused to bake a wedding cake for a lesbian couple because doing so violated the owners’ religious beliefs.

Today, lawyers for two active-duty Airmen who are living with HIV urged a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit to uphold a preliminary injunction granted in February that prevents the Trump Administration from continuing with discharge proceedings against members of the U.S. Air Force living with HIV.

(Phoenix, AZ, September 16, 2019) – The Arizona Supreme Court today issued a 4-3 decision reversing a lower court ruling that had denied a Phoenix business owners’ request that they be exempt from the City of Phoenix anti-discrimination ordinance and instead be allowed to refuse service to same-sex couples.

(Columbus, OH, September 12, 2019) – A U.S. District Court judge today ruled that the lawsuit filed by Lambda Legal, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and ACLU Ohio on behalf of four transgender plaintiffs seeking accurate birth certificates from the state of Ohio can proceed.

BALTIMORE, MD—Today, Lambda Legal, Immigration Equality, and pro bono counsel Morgan Lewis filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court of Maryland against the U.S. Department of State for refusing to recognize the citizenship of Kessem Kiviti, the daughter of married U.S. citizens Roee and Adiel Kiviti.
