We are outraged at the murder of Laquan McDonald and the time it has taken for Chicago officials to release the video and file charges. We extend our deepest sympathy to Laquan McDonald’s family, and to every family affected by unnecessary and unjustified police violence. We hope that justice is done.

We unequivocally reject the ugly and divisive calls for Lambda Legal and other organizations to stop working on behalf of the rights of people who are transgender. We are one movement commonly seeking the liberty to be our true and full selves, to be free from acts of bias, and to live our lives with dignity.
I hope you will join me today as we celebrate one of America’s greatest documents, the U.S. Constitution. More than simply a guideline for government, for 228 years, this living document has made America a more fair and just place for all.
It sure has been an amazing summer... And while the LGBT community was celebrating our stunning victory at the Supreme Court – toasting equality, dancing in the streets, and releasing heart-shaped balloons into the clear blue sky – Lambda Legal did not lose touch for one moment with what is really going on out there in America.
Lambda Legal joins others around the country in mourning the loss of Julian Bond, a civil rights icon who dedicated his life to the struggle for justice and human dignity.
Our voices are hoarse from cheering and our feet are tired from marching, but our hearts are full and we’re ready for what comes next. No time to waste.
As we stand on the brink of another historic moment in the movement for LGBT equality, I can’t help looking back and thinking – I’ve seen other moments like this.
