California Supreme Court Hears Case of Lambda Legal Lesbian Client Denied Infertility Treatment by Christian Fundamentalist Doctors

(San Francisco, May 28, 2008) — The California Supreme Court today heard oral arguments in the case of an Oceanside lesbian, Guadalupe "Lupita" Benítez, whose doctors denied her a standard infertility treatment based on their religious beliefs about gay people.

 

Lambda Legal Advises Social Security Administration on HIV Disability Benefits

(New York, NY, May 23, 2008) — Lambda Legal has submitted formal comments to the Social Security Administration (SSA) outlining ways to improve its criteria for evaluating HIV disability so that they reflect the real difficulties faced by people living with the disease.

(New York, May 19, 2008) — Lambda Legal announces that over 5,000 people signed a pledge to take specific actions to help increase workplace fairness for LGBT people and those with HIV as part of its annual Clock In for Equality — a campaign to raise awareness about workplace discrimination against LGBT people and people with HIV.

Court of Appeal Decides in Favor of Gay Orange County Man Whose Domestic Partner Misled Him By Never Registering Partnership with the State

(Santa Ana, Calif., May 6, 2008) — The California Court of Appeal has ruled unanimously that a gay Orange County man who mistakenly thought his ex-partner had registered their domestic partnership is entitled to the same protections covering heterosexual spouses who discover that, for whatever reason, their marriage is not valid.
