(Chicago, IL, November 30, 2016) – Today, the full 11-member Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals heard arguments in the case of Lambda Legal client, Kimberly Hively, a lesbian math teacher who was repeatedly denied promotions and ultimately fired from her job after it became known that she was a lesbian. The case, Hively v. Ivy Tech Community College, has potential to change the landscape and protect LGBT employees across the country.

(Denver, CO, November 22, 2016) – A District Court today ruled that the U.S. State Department violated federal law when it denied a passport to Lambda Legal client Dana Zzyym, a U.S. citizen and Navy veteran who is intersex. The State Department denied Dana’s passport application because Dana could not accurately choose either male or female on the application form, which does not provide any other gender marker designation.

Washington, D.C. – The U.S. Supreme Court today announced it will hear a case brought by the Gloucester County School Board in Virginia that adopted a discriminatory restroom policy that segregates transgender students from their peers and bars high school senior Gavin Grimm from using the restroom that matches his gender.
