(Atlanta, January 7, 2016) — Today, Lambda Legal urged the U.S. Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals to reverse a lower court ruling and allow Jameka Evans to present her case alleging that Georgia Regional Hospital of Savannah harassed and punished her, eventually forcing her resignation, because she is a lesbian.

(New York, NY, January 5, 2016) — Lambda Legal filed a friend-of-the-court brief with the U.S. Supreme Court yesterday in support of the Texas abortion clinics, physicians who perform abortions and Texas women who need abortion services, who are challenging Texas’s unduly burdensome abortion regulations in Whole Woman’s Health v. Cole.

(Washington) – The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) today announced new guidelines for blood donations that change the current lifetime ban for men who have sex with men (MSM) to a one-year ban. The guidelines also make clear that transgender individuals may self-report their gender for purposes of applying the MSM policy.

(Miami) – Today, Lambda Legal filed a federal class action lawsuit in the U. S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida, Tallahassee Division on behalf Hal Birchfield and Paul Mocko, two gay widowers, and other Florida same-sex spouses in similar situations, who are seeking accurate death certificates for their deceased spouses that acknowledge they were married and recognize them as the surviving spouses.

(December 18, 2015, New York, NY) – Lambda Legal today submitted comments and suggested changes to New York State’s Division of Human Rights regarding a proposed gender identity nondiscrimination rule, under New York’s Human Rights Law.

(Raleigh, NC December 10, 2015) – Today, Lambda Legal filed a federal lawsuit in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina on behalf Melissa and Meredith Weiss, a married lesbian couple, seeking birth certificates listing both mothers as parents of their two sons.

(Chicago, November 25, 2015) —Yesterday, the city of Chicago was left reeling after the release of a brutally violent video showing the killing of Laquan McDonald, a 17-year-old Black teenager who was shot 16 times by Chicago Police Officer Jason Van Dyke in October 2014. Van Dyke was charged with First Degree Murder yesterday after a Cook County judge ordered the release of a Chicago Police Department dashcam video showing the shooting.
