Lambda Legal Settles Lawsuit on Behalf of Gay Couple Kicked Out of Taxi

(Chicago, IL, November 19, 2015) — Today, Lambda Legal settled a lawsuit filed on behalf of two gay men who were unlawfully forced to exit a taxi after they exchanged a brief kiss. As part of the voluntary settlement, the driver of the taxi has apologized to the men and has agreed to make a donation to a local LGBT-focused charity, the Illinois Safe Schools Alliance.

Lambda Legal Commends Pennsylvania School District for Rejecting Discriminatory Policy

(November 19, 2015,) – Last night, the Northwestern Lehigh school board in New Tripoli, PA announced that it would continue its current practice to allow transgender students to use the bathrooms and single-sex facilities that match their gender identity. The Board explicitly rejected efforts by the anti-LGBT Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) to implement policies that would discriminate against transgender students.

Lambda Legal Urges Le Roy Central School District to Retain Safe and Affirming Bathroom Policy

Houston Voters Reject Equal Rights Ordinance

(Houston, TX, November 3, 2015) – Today, Houston voters went to the polls and rejected the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance (HERO), defeating a citywide ordinance that would have prohibited discrimination in employment, housing and public accommodation on the basis of race, age, gender, pregnancy, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability or military status.

Lambda Legal Joins Brief in Support of U. of Texas Use of Race to Advance Admissions Diversity

Lambda Legal Joins Federal Lawsuit After Antigay Attack at Rikers Island

(New York, October 29, 2015) — Lambda Legal has filed an amended complaint in a federal lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on behalf of Thomas Hamm against the City of New York and New York City Department of Correction (DOC) officers and supervisors after a brutal attack on Mr. Hamm while he visited his partner, P.F., at a men’s facility on Rikers Island.
