RALEIGH, N.C. — The American Civil Liberties Union, the ACLU of North Carolina, and Lambda Legal today asked a federal court to order an immediate halt to enforcement of a North Carolina law that targets transgender people for discrimination in single-sex facilities.

HHS Issues New Rules Confirming Ban on Health Care and Insurance Discrimination against LGBT People

(May 13, 2016, New York, NY) – The United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) today finalized new rules confirming that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people are protected against health care discrimination under Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act.

Lambda Legal and Transgender Law Center Petition VA to Provide Surgery for Transgender Veterans

(Washington, D.C., May 10, 2016) –Late yesterday, Lambda Legal and Transgender Law Center, with co-counsel WilmerHale, petitioned with the US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to change the rule that categorically excludes transition-related surgery for transgender veterans. U.S. Justice Department: North Carolina’s HB 2 Violates Civil Rights Act
